Count your blessings

Prince in Leeuwarden.

This is the last photo I took of Prince. He always waited for us on the windowsill. This particular day we had been to Tini’s birthday. Tini is Wim’s cousin. Her husband Klaas and she used to look after our cats when we first moved to Leeuwarden.

Prince had created a game for Klaas. As half-Bengal he was more like a dog than a cat. He would take balls of wool from upstairs and leave them by the front door. It stopped as soon as we got home.

There are many things I don’t like about Google but I really love the photo memories. We did not know he would only have a few days to live after Tini’s birthday. I was with him at the vet when he passed away from renal failure, only seven years old. So sad!

Two years on I can see he had a great life with us, and we with him. I am grateful for the time that we had with him. So I am today counting my blessings.
